Breast Reconstruction | Palm Springs
Breast Reconstruction restores a natural, symmetrical appearance to the chest, maintains body proportion, allows clothes & swimsuits to fit better, and most importantly, boosts self-confidence for women who have lost one or both breasts to mastectomy or who lack breasts due to a congenital or developmental abnormality.
Reconstructive surgeons strive to create a new breast and nipple-areola complex that resembles the woman’s natural breast as closely as possible in shape, size and position.
Breast reconstruction is achieved through the use of several techniques that strive to recreate a new breast that closely resembles the original breast shape, size and feel. Several techniques are used during the process, including: saline or silicone implants, tissue expanders, and the patients own native tissues.
During a series of consultations, Dr. Quardt will help you arrive at the best treatment plan for your situation. She will also work with your oncologist and surgeon to facilitate your breast reconstruction process.
The general process entails preparing the breast area for an implant, rebuilding and reshaping the breast mound, recreating the nipple and areola and closing the incisions.
After surgery, you will continue to heal for several weeks as swelling decreases and breast shape and position improve.
