Breast Reduction | Palm Springs
Large breasts can cause pain, improper posture, rashes, breathing problems, skeletal deformities, and low self-esteem. Breast reduction surgery is usually done to provide relief from these often embarrassing and painful symptoms.
You may be a candidate for Breast Reduction if you:
- Have breasts that are out of proportion with the rest of your body
- Experience pain and discomfort because of the size of your breasts
- Are in good overall health
- Do not smoke
Breast reduction surgery is usually performed through incisions on your breasts that are placed within the natural folds of your skin.with surgical removal of the excess fat, glandular tissue and skin.
In some cases, excess fat may be removed through liposuction in conjunction with the excision techniques described below. If breast size is largely due to fatty tissue and excess skin is not a factor, liposuction alone may be used in the procedure for breast reduction.
The technique used to reduce the size of your breasts will be determined by your individual condition, breast composition, amount of reduction desired, your personal preferences and the surgeon’s advice.
Performed under general anesthesia, Dr. Quardt will make incisions that can be easily hidden beneath a swimsuit or in the natural folds of the skin. After making the incision, Dr. Quardt will reposition the nipple and areola. The underlying breast tissue is reduced, lifted and shaped. Occasionally, for extremely large pendulous breasts, the nipple and areola may need to be removed and transplanted to a higher position on the breast (free nipple graft). The incisions are closed and sterile dressings are applied.
The results of your breast reduction surgery are immediately visible. Over time, post-surgical swelling will resolve and incision lines will fade.
